Riverview recognizes play and direct exploration as basic tools for learning. We have provided a child-centered program with a wide range of stimulating experiences for 26 wonder-filled years.

Dear Friends,

In 1991, Riverview Nursery School opened our doors, and hearts, to 28 children attending the 2’s, 3’s and 4’s classes.  Through the years we have grown to over 80 families who enroll each year in our preschool. Many children live in our community of Nyack and Valley Cottage, however families also reside in other towns and villages of Rockland County. Our philosophy that “children learn through play” has been our hallmark over the years, and with current brain research, there is even more evidence to support play-based learning in early childhood education.

Riverview families reflect the wonderful diversity of our community, representing rich ethnic heritages, languages other than English spoken at home, and various religious backgrounds.  Riverview Nursery School has always felt like family to parents, children and teachers.  These friendships have continued for 25 years, children still maintaining their friendships as well as parents making long lasting friendships, too.  As RNS teachers have nurtured and guided their students through these important early childhood years, we continue to applaud them in their endeavors from kindergarten through college. We are delighted to see them grow up and hear their personal pursuits in education and passions for music, dance, sports, and theatre.

We hope that you will have that same experience with us here at Riverview.
